SUMMARY:Jean Becker Book Signing-Meet & Greet
DESCRIPTION:Jean Becker\nBook Signing and Meet & Greet\nWednesday\, September 25th at 5pm \nLocated at the Town House School \n135 North St. in KPT \n\nOn Wednesday\, September 25\, at 5:00 PM at the Kennebunkport Historical Society’s Town House School\, 135 North Street\, Jean Becker\, former Chief of Staff to President George H.W. Bush\, will sign copies of her newest book\, Character Matters…and Other Lessons Learned from George H.W. Bush. The event will feature a talk and slide presentation that complement the remembrances in the book from family\, friends\, and colleagues who knew the President. \nOn June 12\, 2024\, the centennial of the late President George H.W. Bush’s birth\, Jean Becker launched Character Mattersas part of a year-long celebration under the moniker 41@100. Held on the grounds of the Bush Presidential Library and Museum in College Station\, Texas\, Becker and Presidential biographer & historian Jon Meacham reminisced about the 41st President: his leadership\, personal kindness\, and character\, all of which form the substance of Becker’s latest book on President Bush’s legacy. \nBecker’s book delves into very personal stories and pivotal life lessons learned from observing President Bush\, leaving a lasting impact on those who encountered him. The book features insightful and touching tributes from notable figures such as former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice\, former Secretary of State James A. Baker\, comedian Dana Carvey\, singer Reba McEntire\, and former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom John Major. Character Matters illustrates how George H.W. Bush consistently led by example. \nJean Becker’s visit to Kennebunkport coincides with the annual Board of Directors meeting of one of Bush’s most significant legacies\, the Points of Light Foundation. \nOther books by Jean Becker\, including the New York Times bestseller The Man I Knew\, and Pearls of Wisdom by Barbara Bush\, edited by Jean Becker\, will also be available for purchase at the event\, along with Character Matters. Light refreshments will be served following the presentation and slide show. \nAdmission & Reservations:\nAdmission to the event is free\, with donations appreciated to support the Kennebunkport Historical Society’s ongoing programs.
