SUMMARY:Jason Nappi\, Meteorologist: Lecture
DESCRIPTION:“Comparing past to present: Are weather events getting worse?”\n\nWednesday\, May 15 at 2PM\nLocated at The Town House School:\n135 North St. Kennebunkport\, ME\n\nThe Kennebunkport Historical Society is pleased to announce a special event featuring esteemed meteorologist Jason Nappi of NEWS CENTER Maine. Nappi will engage attendees in an exploration of recent storms and weather phenomena\, questioning whether we are witnessing increasingly severe weather patterns. \nWith recent coastal storms and flooding capturing public attention\, Jason Nappi’s presentation promises to provide invaluable insight into the cause of these events. Drawing upon his extensive experience\, including his tenure as chief meteorologist for KADN/KLAF-TV in south Louisiana\, Nappi will offer comparisons between current weather events and historical occurrences in the Kennebunkport area. \nDuring his time along the Gulf Coast\, Nappi navigated through one of the most challenging hurricane seasons on record\, alongside various other weather emergencies such as tornado outbreaks and ice storms. His expertise extends beyond the realm of television\, with notable roles at prominent news stations across the United States\, from WMTW-TV in Portland\, Maine\, to WPIX-TV in New York City. \nIn recognition of his dedication and proficiency\, Jason Nappi was awarded the prestigious American Meteorological Society Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (AMS CBM) designation in December of 2013. This accolade underscores his commitment to excellence in meteorological knowledge and communication. \nA graduate of the State University of New York at Oneonta with a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology\, Nappi’s passion for weather\, particularly tracking nor’easters\, is palpable. Yet\, he also finds joy in the culinary arts\, with a penchant for crafting homemade pizzas.
