Mr. Stockman\, who has been an integral part of the Kennebunkport firefighting \ncommunity for the past 45 years\, will share his extensive research and knowledge on the history \nof firefighting and the impact of the 1887 fire on the town. \n\nMr. Stockman began his firefighting career in 1977 when he purchased Cape Hardware and \njoined the Wildwood Volunteer Fire Company. Over the years\, he has held various positions\, \nincluding Lieutenant\, Captain\, Assistant Chief\, and Training Officer. On the administrative side\, \nhe served as Secretary and President. Since the formation of the Kennebunkport Fire \nDepartment (KPFD) in 2005\, Mr. Stockman has served as Safety Officer #8\, a title he currently \nholds. \n\nIn addition to his firefighting duties\, Mr. Stockman runs his own company\, J & M Lighting \nDesign\, Inc.\, the first firm in Northern New England to offer specialized lighting and theatre \ndesign services. He also serves as Chair of the Board for the Kennebunkport Emergency \nMedical Service\, Inc. Nappi will engage attendees in an exploration of recent storms and weather phenomena\, questioning whether we are witnessing increasingly severe weather patterns. \nWith recent coastal storms and flooding capturing public attention\, Jason Nappi’s presentation promises to provide invaluable insight into the cause of these events. Drawing upon his extensive experience\, including his tenure as chief meteorologist for KADN/KLAF-TV in south Louisiana\, Nappi will offer comparisons between current weather events and historical occurrences in the Kennebunkport area. \nDuring his time along the Gulf Coast\, Nappi navigated through one of the most challenging hurricane seasons on record\, alongside various other weather emergencies such as tornado outbreaks and ice storms. His expertise extends beyond the realm of television\, with notable roles at prominent news stations across the United States\, from WMTW-TV in Portland\, Maine\, to WPIX-TV in New York City. \nIn recognition of his dedication and proficiency\, Jason Nappi was awarded the prestigious American Meteorological Society Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (AMS CBM) designation in December of 2013. This accolade underscores his commitment to excellence in meteorological knowledge and communication. \nA graduate of the State University of New York at Oneonta with a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology\, Nappi’s passion for weather\, particularly tracking nor’easters\, is palpable.
